Stephen Talkhouse Pharoah - Montauk Indian tribal leader was a very famous person during the 19th century on Eastern Long Island. He was a mail carrier and long distance walker. It is said that P.T. Barnum new of his exploits and his endurance at walking long distances. He was a direct descendant of the Native American Wyandanch the Montauk Sachem of the 17th Century.
